One of my favourite television commercials for a perfume has always been this Chanel No.5 advert with Nicole Kidman. Even though it is cheesy and rather dramatic, the long necklace that falls in the space of her backless dress gets me every time. There is just something so striking and elegant about the shot where she looks behind her. The fantasy and romantic elements also steal my heart.

The fun fact is that the modern era of perfume originated with the famous Chanel No.5 perfume from Coco Chanel since 1921. The scent is an exotic and floral one.

I suppose Chanel has every right to produce such a hopelessly romantic, whimsical advert like this because they were the founders of modern perfume.

Navy Blue is the colour of the week. It is a classy, royal, deep, emotional colour that is always on trend. For both women and men, Navy Blue is a winner. Matte or metallic this colour is exquisite; against most colours, or even white or black, Navy Blue is a standout and all time favourite.

This is the hem of Navy Blue.

Navy Blue was originally known as Marine Blue until it became more logical to call it the current name since it was the British Royal Navy’s uniform colour, from 1748.

Victoria’s Secret has changed the world of underwear; underwear and bras are seen to be just as important as clothing. Victoria’s Secret highlights this fact at their annual spectacle “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show”. It is one of the highlights of my year every year. My mom and I wait in anticipation for the day that the show airs. What is cooler is that one of the main Angels is our very own South African, Candice Swanepoel. The set designs are amazing and are only a glimpse to how imaginative and spectacular the designs for the bras and panties are. It is incredible that every year there are different themes and yet they get better and better. I love Victoria’s Secret. The show is brilliance.

Emerald green is so lush, so royal and oh so eye-catching. Emerald green is the colour named after the gemstone emerald, since it shares the same look of the colour. It is a tone of green that bright and light, yet deep, with a bluish undertone. It is just exquisite.

Every year at NY Fashion Week, the shows are often delayed by about 30 minutes to starting time. What is funny though, is that the shows last only about 11 minutes long.

Here are my favourite items from the Lacoste show at New York Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2013/2014, ready-to-wear. The designs are impeccable and immaculately tailored.

Knowing how popular jewellery is in the fashion industry today, it is odd to think that men were the first to wear jewellery, since women are the biggest consumers of it nowadays. Men began to wear jewellery initially as a societal status symbol. Jewellery is a necessity in a women’s outfit today, whether it is the show-stopper or not, just a little touch of jewellery is inevitable. However, men are coming to the party too. More and more men are defining a new masculinity with adapting to jewellery once again. Boucheron make some of the most exquisite jewellery items in the business. Colour Code Tuesday: Classy Carmine

“Carmine” is a deep, rich red and has a purple undertone. Carmine is an exquisite colour – very Royal and very modish. It is certainly an attractive colour too. In my opinion, this colour looks best on larger pieces of fabric, or on more clean, simple linear designs; anything that is along the lines of Chanel’s pieces or Valentino’s. The feminine drama of carmine red is evident.
